Five years ago, we embarked on an ambitious endeavor: to produce a comprehensive work that would serve as the resource we wished we had when we began practicing Energy Law.
That vision has now been realized. It is with great joy that we announce that the collective volume “Energy Law: From Theory to Practice” is finally here, published by P.N. Sakkoulas Publications, whose partnership and support have been invaluable in bringing this work to fruition.
This book is the product of five years of sustained effort, rigorous scholarly debate, meticulous revision, and an unwavering commitment to creating something meaningful for our profession. It captures not only the technical rigor that Energy Law demands, but also the practical wisdom that only comes from years of hands-on experience, navigating complex regulatory frameworks, advising on transformative infrastructure projects, and guiding clients through an industry in constant evolution.
The book is structured around two principal axes. The first examines the institutional and organizational framework of Energy Law at both European Union and national level, providing readers with a thorough understanding of the regulatory architecture that governs the sector. The second explores the full spectrum of energy sources — from the most conventional to the most innovative, including renewable energy sources, hydrogen, and green gases — reflecting the dynamic transformation currently reshaping the energy landscape.
The process of writing this book proved as instructive for us as we trust it will be for its readers. It challenged us to distil decades of collective knowledge into something accessible, relevant, and forward-looking.
None of this would have been possible without the distinguished editors and authors who contributed to this work. We extend our sincere gratitude to Yannis Kourniotis and Magdalini-Christina Vlachou-Vlachopoulou, editors and co-authors of the collective volume, as well as the rest of the co-authors, namely Anastasia-Eftychia Karousou, Sofia Peppa, Christina Kyrgialani, Christos Kostopoulos and Maria Sgouropoulou, each of them for their expertise, their dedication, and their steadfast commitment to this project throughout its development. Their contributions are reflected on every page, and it has been a privilege to see such accomplished colleagues collaborate on this endeavor.
We also wish to thank the colleagues, mentors, and clients who inspired so many of these pages; your influence has shaped our practice and, in turn, this publication.
We wrote this book to bridge the gap between theory and practice. We hope it serves as a trusted companion to students entering the field, to practitioners seeking deeper insight, and to anyone passionate about the law that powers our world.
We look forward to contributing further to this important area of legal scholarship and profession. Energy Law: From Theory to Practice — Available now, at the following link
