Congratulations to the amazing teams at the 4 Greek systemic banks Piraeus Bank, Eurobank, Alpha Bank, and the National Bank of Greece for closing a EUR 270m financing to Aegean Airlines giving a significant boost to the Greek aviation sector.
Partner Yanni Kourniotis led the LLF finance team along with our associates led by Thodoris Papadatos, who advised the 4 Greek systemic banks in financing Aegean Airlines for a total amount of EUR 150m with the support of the Greek government’s COVID-19 Enterprise Guarantee Fund and in the issuance of a secured bond loan amounting to EUR 120m led by Piraeus Bank as Bondholder Agent. The bond loan was subscribed by all 4 Greek systemic banks and it will be utilized to finance the company’s investment program. This finance transaction depicts a clear commitment by the Greek banking system to shore up the aviation industry hit hard by the pandemic.
